So ghetto van went back the the shop this week. The rat smell has slowly started coming back. Apparently there were still nests that weren't discovered the first time; thankfully they were only in the engine. While the van was in the shop, I drove a rental. A giant rental. A Chrysler Aspen. For being such an oversized SUV, it was remarkably small inside. There was no way we could have gotten 3 car seats in the middle seat. I've been thinking about going back to an SUV when ghetto van dies. After my week in the Aspen, NO WAY. I have such door ding anxiety! The van doors slide open, so we NEVER have to worry about whacking other people's cars. The Aspen's doors open all the way, which is nice, but holding George in one arm and trying to wake a sleeping 3-year-old and get her unbuckled with one hand while trying to not let the door hit the next car is impossible.
I feel like I need to care that I look like a total stay-at-home mom driving a van, but I really don't. I did resist the van when we were in the market after our Yukon ended up nearly being a lemon, but it only took one drive and I was hooked. And after a week of too-small parking spaces and door-ding anxiety, I love it all the more:)
